A very nice and loving older couple contacted Refuge Farms asking if we could take their two horses. They could no longer provide these older geldings with the care that they wanted them to have. THE FARM was full, but was able to establish the first Annex Location of Refuge Farms at one of the farms of one of the volunteers just west of Spring Valley. This is where Star and his companion, Windsor, now live with the same Three Promises and Missions of THE FARM.
Sandy fell instantly in love with Star at their first meeting. There is something special about him that "sees" you and quickly envelopes your heart into his. He is a big horse on the outside, but we are learning that he is quite shy and tender on the inside. He is stately and manly, yet he will follow you around the pasture like a little puppy! We are learning that he is also extremely intelligent and a very quick learner!
He loves attention from humans and gets jealous when not receiving it. As a young gelding, he was once used as a pack horse to hunt animals throughout the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Now, he enjoys being loved and relaxing in his new surroundings. Star will be brought to THE FARM for special events so that everyone can meet him and learn of his grace and beauty.
Star is a great reminder that love is all there is. He is teaching us how it takes strength to remain calm and patient while others learn how to connect to their hearts in ways that come so naturally to him. You will be touched by the depth of both his heart and soul.
