Events

Think about distinguishing events as either educational or fundraising for future financial reporting.

Antique & Garage Sale in 2007:
  1. Canopies will be used this year and new items will be placed under them.
  2. All items are donated.
  3. Collection of donated items for 2007 sale began at the end of the 2006 sale.
  4. This is the only event that Refuge Farms puts monies into advertising for.
Applebee's® breakfasts:

Can't we reduce our debt load for events?
  1. The intention would be to minimize expenses so we could increase our profit margin.
  2. We could use the Refuge Farms "Wish List" button to put out the supplies and equipment that are needed for events and office supplies.
Perennial Sale:
  1. Could there be a perennial sale at the end of the season as well?
  2. Refuge Farms does have a perennial table at the Open Barn. The perennial sales are greatest at the Garage Sale in the spring.
The Annual Walk:

Could we give donated prizes to help raise the level of pledges?

Day Camps for Girls and Boys:
  1. There was a suggestion that the age of the children be 4th and 5th graders (10-12 y.o.).
  2. This age group is eager to learn and would be very interested in learning something about horses, i.e. what a Farrier does, nutritional info, crafts.
  3. There was a suggestion about teaching the kids how to draw a horse: Mary K-A. offered her time and skills to lead a "draw your favorite horse" event for the girls camp.
Website

Bulletin Board:

It would be interesting to include a Board with some information about horse issues. (Note: There is such a thread.)

  1. The following volunteers were recognized for having contributed over 100 hours to Refuge Farms in 2006:
    • Rose R. - 110
    • Cass D. - 120
    • Tracy O. - 193
    • Tara B. - 255.5

    • Lynn S. - over 500

  2. A volunteer recognition program was started for 2006 overall contribution to the missions of healing. The Frances Andrew Award was given to the people that demonstrated outstanding community leadership demonstrating the missions of Refuge Farms:
